RV Tips: Keep Your RV in Great Shape with Our RV Service Schedule

Keep your new or used RV in road-ready condition year round by maintaining its service and maintenance checks! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure – and the same is true for your RV. Preventative care and regular maintenance will keep your RV in great condition at a smaller expense than costly repairs. So, prioritize your RV service appointments and get them on the calendar with as much enthusiasm as you plan your vacation dates. Here are some RV service tips below and a recommended service schedule.

RV Tips

Before Every Road Trip

These tasks are quick to DIY and easy to take care of. Make sure you check on the following before every single road trip:

  • Check all tire pressure and for any signs of cracks or wear beyond the usual. Don’t set out with a tire with balding tread or cracks.
  • Sweep and clear the roof of your RV from any debris like small branches, leaves, or even animal droppings from squirrels or birds.
  • Check fluid levels and under the hood for leaks if you’re driving a motor home. For towable RVs, do the same for your towing vehicle.

Once a Month

Pick one regular day – like the second Saturday of the month, to get all the monthly tasks out of the way. These should include:

  • Check the seals, slides, and roof for damage or cracks and repair immediately. Even the smallest cracks can cause huge headaches and costly problems down the road – including infestation of pests or major water damage.
  • Lubricate all slides.
  • Clean the A/C intake, filters, and vents, replacing filters if needed (if you’re using the A/C, of course!).

Once and Twice a Year

Scheduling an RV service appointment well in advance can get these twice-a-year maintenance needs out of the way – and we’d love to help!

  • Lubrication of jacks, hinges, and hitches
  • Fluids/filters checked and changed

Plan to have your annual RV service done on the same day as one of your 6-month appointments! Just a few of the annual tasks we can help with include:

  • Water system flush and clean
  • Exterior resealing
  • Brak service
  • Propane inspection

You won’t regret being proactive and making sure your new or used RV stays in great condition for years to come. And it’s easier than you think! Contact us today to schedule an RV service appointment!
