Before Every Road Trip
These tasks are quick to DIY and easy to take care of. Make sure you check on the following before every single road trip:
- Check all tire pressure and for any signs of cracks or wear beyond the usual. Don’t set out with a tire with balding tread or cracks.
- Sweep and clear the roof of your RV from any debris like small branches, leaves, or even animal droppings from squirrels or birds.
- Check fluid levels and under the hood for leaks if you’re driving a motor home. For towable RVs, do the same for your towing vehicle.
Once a Month
Pick one regular day – like the second Saturday of the month, to get all the monthly tasks out of the way. These should include:
- Check the seals, slides, and roof for damage or cracks and repair immediately. Even the smallest cracks can cause huge headaches and costly problems down the road – including infestation of pests or major water damage.
- Lubricate all slides.
- Clean the A/C intake, filters, and vents, replacing filters if needed (if you’re using the A/C, of course!).
Once and Twice a Year
